From everyone at Brown & Howard Marina, we hope this message finds you well and that your loved ones are safe and sound. Normally at this point in the year, we would be enthusiastically awaiting the beginning of summer and making preparations for your arrival. While we’ve all been tossed a bit off our normal routine, rest assured that we are still making those preparations and fully intend to provide you with the same unparalleled marina experience you’ve come to expect from us.
The local economy of our beloved Newport has been hit hard, and our hearts go out to the small retailers, as well as the hotel and restaurant workers in particular, who are struggling to get through this crisis. We’ve already seen many of the spring festivals get rescheduled for the summer months, such as the Oyster and Chowder Festival in Bowen’s Wharf, which will now be held over Fourth of July weekend. We hope this makes for an even more bustling summer season! If you’re interested in helping our community get through this time, we suggest considering:
- Donating to the RI Hospitality Association’s Employee Relief Fund.
- Our friends at Newport Restaurant Group are donating 30% of all gift card sales throughout the entire month of April to their employee relief fund, and your gift card purchase will automatically enter you into a raffle.
- Purchasing a gift card at your favorite Newport establishment today to enjoy when you visit this summer.
We know that times are difficult right now, however we also know that storm clouds often make way for the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises. As long as we support one another and stay the course, we will persevere.
We have some exciting news to share in the coming months that will get you even more ready for summer than we’re sure you already are. We can all certainly use a little sunshine and relaxation after this stressful spring time.
